| The White Coat Ceremony is an esteemed event for the incoming trimester whereupon there is an "invitation" into the Spartan Health Sciences University family and the medical field. Those in attendance come to honor and welcome first trimester students to Spartan, consisting of both returning students and faculty. After the ceremony, the SHSU cafeteria provides delicious refreshments which is then followed by the dinner "after" party. | | | | An event that has become a tradition over the last several years. It's origin is undecided but its meaning is very well understood. It is an event which exemplifies our differences in culture and shows the family bond we have achieved and the harmony in which we coexist during our pusuit of professional careers. This event also shows how our efforts as a group surpass our individual undertaking. | | | | Spartan's Health Fair is a free health screening event, open the the local community of St. Lucia. This annual event is put together by members of the AMSA (American Medical Students Association). Numerous students and faculty members this health and prevention effort. | | | | The Student Government Association (SGA) of Spartan Health Sciences University has numerous functions that encompass not only student affairs, but community based services as well. As SGA officers, our day to day responsibilities include oversight and operation of several ancillary services campus wide and is governed by a slate of elected offiers and an elected representative from each trimeste class. The SGA play an intergrated role in the planning and coordinating of several student related matters. These service include: On-site SGA store, school cafeteria, copy machine, internet services, computer lab, night transport, and sports activities. The SGA stores's funds are utilized to fund several student related activities such as: End of trimester parties, Taste of Spartan and several others. | | | | The Americal Medical Student Association is a national organization representing 35,000 physicians-in-training. U.S. citizens in international medical schools are eligible for affiliate membership in AMSA.
