PROGRAM BASIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants interested in the Bachelor of Science Degree Nursing Program MUST possess at the National, Regional or International Level, a High School Diploma/ General Education Diploma (GED)/Higher Secondary Education Diploma (HSED) or General Certificate of Education Diploma (GCE – O’Level).
Caribbean Applicants requirements:
A Minimum of 5 CXC subjects including: English, Mathematics, Biology and/or Chemistry with a minimum of Level 1 =4, Level 2 =3, Level 3 =2. OR (CXC grades I, II or III after June 1998 or grade I or II before June 1998).
A Minimum of 5 GCE “O” Level including English, Mathematics, Biology and/or Chemistry with a minimum of 6 points where A =4, B =3, C =2.
United States of America and Canada:
A Minimum of 5 Grade 12 subjects including English, Mathematics, Biology and/or Chemistry with a minimum of 6 points where A=4, B=3, C=2. Where applicable, a GPA of 2.7 from a minimum of 5 subjects including English, Mathematics, Biology and/or Chemistry is accepted.
RETENTION AND PROMOTION POLICY
For retention and promotion in the Nursing Program, the student must, in the judgment of the faculty, satisfy the requirements of health, conduct, and scholastic achievement. In addition to meeting the established criteria of the parent institutions, the student:
- Must be able to register for courses as scheduled in the sequence pattern outlined in the curriculum to meet the requirements for this program of study
- Must achieve a cumulative 2.5 grade point average on all courses, which count toward graduation in the program.
- Must make a grade of “C” (70%) or better in theory in each nursing course attempted and receive a clinical evaluation of “Satisfactory or above.”
- A student who receives any of the following grades: “D” “F”, or “W” in any nursing course may repeat that course one time only. A maximum of one nursing course may be repeated for progression in the program. In order to repeat a nursing course, the student must follow the readmission policy for the nursing program. Readmission will depend on credit load and whether the course to be repeated is offered for the semester in question.
